Helen Wilson, the partner of the British man who tragically lost his life in the Bataclan terror attack, has shared a heartfelt tribute to him as the tenth anniversary of the horrific event approaches. Despite sustaining injuries herself during the Paris music venue attack in November 2015, Helen bravely tried to save Nick Alexander, a merchandising manager, with whom she was at the venue.
In a recent social media post, Helen expressed her enduring love for Nick, stating, “I never thought I’d do it without you, Nicky, but here I am touring the world and doing the job you used to do. I love you. I always will. I miss you. I always wu.” She also reminisced about sharing a meal in his honor, recalling their favorite dishes and drinks.
Nick, aged 35 and originally from Colchester, Essex, was one of the 90 individuals who lost their lives at the Bataclan. The coordinated attacks in Paris claimed a total of 130 lives and left 416 others wounded. Helen, an American, and Nick were among the crowd watching the Eagles of Death Metal when the gunmen opened fire.
Following the tragic events, Helen, who resided in Paris at the time, provided testimony during the trial of Salah Abdeslam, the sole surviving member of the terrorist group responsible for the attacks. Abdeslam received a life sentence for his involvement in the terror-related crimes.
Reflecting on forgiveness, Helen mentioned that harboring hatred and seeking vengeance serves no purpose in such situations. She expressed her belief that forgiveness is a healthier approach to dealing with the pain caused by the loss of loved ones. Helen also shared her thoughts on Abdeslam’s remorse and the complexities of the justice system in handling such cases.
Despite grappling with feelings of guilt and the challenges of finding peace, Helen continues to honor Nick’s memory and hopes he would be proud of her journey. She finds solace in the belief that he is watching over her, guiding her steps as she navigates life without him.
