UK Citizen Dies After Hair Transplant in Turkey

Must read

A UK citizen has tragically passed away following a hair transplant and dental work in Turkey. The individual underwent a hair procedure in Istanbul’s Fulya district before receiving dental treatment the next day in the Ayazaga area. After returning to his hotel, he fell ill and was taken to Seyrantepe Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital, where he later died. An investigation is ongoing, and the cause of death is pending autopsy results.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has confirmed their engagement with local authorities regarding the incident. Turkey has gained popularity for its affordable yet quality hair transplant services, attracting over a million people annually for hair restoration treatments.

The demand is expected to rise, with projections indicating 1.1 million patients by 2025. However, there have been unfortunate incidents, including the recent death of Martyn Latchman, who underwent a procedure in Istanbul and passed away shortly after. Authorities are investigating the clinic where the surgery took place, which has a strong reputation and a significant number of past patients.

Despite the lower cost compared to the UK, with hair transplants in Turkey starting at £1,500, there have been concerns about the safety and quality of procedures. The UK Foreign Office reported several British nationals losing their lives in Turkey due to elective medical procedures in recent years. It is essential for individuals considering surgery in Turkey to verify the credentials of their surgeon and thoroughly research the clinic before proceeding.
