Father Forgives 10-Year-Old for Son’s Tragic Shooting

Must read

A father has displayed remarkable forgiveness towards a 10-year-old boy who confessed to fatally shooting his son, Brandon O’Quinn Rasberry, while he was asleep in his RV. The tragic incident occurred in 2022 when the child, who was below the age of criminal responsibility, fired a pistol that belonged to his grandfather.

Kenneth, the victim’s father, expressed his shock at the revelation, stating that the boy involved was not the person they had suspected. Brandon, who had recently moved to a Texas location, was found dead in his RV after failing to show up for work. Despite the heartbreaking loss, Kenneth extended his forgiveness towards the young boy, emphasizing the need for prayers, comfort, and understanding for his troubled state of mind.

The Gonzalez County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by a school official about the boy’s disturbing behavior, leading to an investigation that uncovered the boy’s admission of shooting a man two years prior. The child, during questioning, disclosed how he had found a firearm in his grandad’s vehicle, entered Brandon’s RV, and tragically shot him before returning the gun to its original location.

Following ballistic testing by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms San Antonio Field Office, it was confirmed that the same gun was used in Brandon’s murder. The boy was placed under emergency detention and later transferred to a psychiatric facility for evaluation and treatment. Subsequently, he faced charges related to a separate school bus incident.

In response to the incident, Nixon-Smiley Superintendent Jeff Van Auken announced that the child would not be returning to his former school.
