Must read

Authorities have pressed charges against a young man in connection with a brutal knife assault that resulted in the death of a mother of four and left her husband injured.

The incident took place in Cork, Ireland, where the accused allegedly targeted Stella and Brian Gallagher. Sadly, Stella passed away at the scene, while her husband Brian is currently hospitalized. Law enforcement officials have announced that the man apprehended at the site has been formally charged regarding the attack and is scheduled to appear before Cork City District Court later today.

The couple, survived by their daughter Ciara and three sons David, Conor, and Matthew, are at the center of an ongoing investigation following the tragic event. The property has undergone a thorough forensic examination as part of the inquiry. A spokesperson for the Garda stated, “The male in his 20s, who was taken into custody at the scene of the fatal incident in Ballinlough on Monday night, 17th November 2025, has been charged. He is set to face the Cork City District Court this afternoon, Wednesday, 19th November 2025.”

Police responded to the residence on the southside of the city just after 9 p.m. on Monday, with Armed Support Units dispatched to the location. Local residents recounted to CorkBeo hearing distressing screams emanating from the typically serene neighborhood, prompting immediate calls to emergency services.

Mrs. Gallagher, who worked as a chemical engineer at a pharmaceutical company, has left behind grieving loved ones. A family liaison officer has been assigned to offer support, and an incident room has been established at Angelsea Street Garda Station under the supervision of a senior investigator.

Local councilor Peter Horgan expressed the profound impact of the incident on the community, stating, “It’s an awful tragedy, my prayers are with the victims and the wider family. Gardaí have now begun their investigation and must be given the space to do that, but the incident has cast a dark cloud over the entire parish; it’s a very sad situation.”

“We urge any witnesses to step forward with information about this incident. Individuals who were in the Shrewsbury Downs area of Ballinlough between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Monday, 17th November 2025, and who possess camera footage (including home security and dash-cam footage) are requested to provide it to the investigating Gardaí.
