“Amazon Customers Alerted to New Fraudulent ‘Product Recall’ Scam”

Must read

Users who made purchases on Amazon in March are being alerted to a new fraudulent scheme falsely claiming a “product recall” has been initiated. The concerning text message, targeting UK phones, starts with an alarming notification stating “Amazon Product Recall Notice.”

The message offers a full refund to recipients and prompts them to click a link to log in to their Amazon accounts. It also urges individuals to immediately stop using the product. The text, as observed by Mirror Online, informs customers of a product recall related to an item from their March 2026 order due to a design flaw that could pose a safety hazard.

Despite the seemingly legitimate tone of the message, it is actually a phishing scam aimed at deceiving anxious customers into divulging their login credentials. Falling for this scam could lead to unauthorized transactions, account lockouts, or unauthorized access to personal information.

While this particular scam is relatively new and has just started circulating on phones, it is not the first time Amazon customers have been targeted. In a similar incident in February, cybercriminals spread messages suggesting an item had been recalled “for safety reasons,” linking unsuspecting individuals to a fake Amazon page.

Amazon has cautioned consumers about various scams that involve making payments via email, phone, or text for goods or services. The company advises vigilance against tactics that create a false sense of urgency to pressure individuals into taking immediate action, and encourages reporting suspected scams to safeguard accounts and involve law enforcement.

Additionally, Amazon recommends that customers exercise caution with unfamiliar phone numbers or texts, unexpected order or delivery messages, and links with suspicious characteristics such as misspellings, unusual formatting, or non-standard URLs.
