Upon police arrival, it was discovered that the venue had not bolstered security measures despite the expected large turnout. The Shrewsbury Police Department disclosed that approximately 300 to 350 unaccompanied juveniles, aged between 10 and 17, were queued outside. With temperatures hovering around 90 degrees, tensions quickly escalated, resulting in multiple fights in rapid succession.
Law enforcement sought assistance from other agencies due to the immense size and volatility of the gathering. The turmoil spilled over to nearby establishments such as Aldi, Walmart, and My Place, where youths invaded the premises, caused destruction, and issued threats to patrons and employees, leading most adjacent businesses to shut down for the day.
Several individuals were apprehended and later released to their guardians. Notably, a 12-year-old girl was found in possession of a knife, stating she had traveled from Florissant via Uber after witnessing the commotion on social media and carried the weapon for self-defense.
By approximately 9:30 pm, the area was cleared without any reported injuries among officers or civilians. Sky Zone Shrewsbury expressed gratitude to compliant attendees while regretting the inability to accommodate all visitors due to reaching safety capacity before the event sold out.
