Universal is gearing up to unveil its expansive new theme park later this year, featuring seven distinct lands inspired by popular franchises such as Shrek, Jurassic World, SpongeBob SquarePants, and the Minions.
Scheduled to debut on July 1, 2026, in Frisco, Texas, Universal Kids Resort will cater specifically to children and families, offering a unique experience for younger guests while also providing attractions that adults can enjoy.
The theme park will be divided into seven themed zones, including DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, and more. Additionally, a new Universal Kids Resort Hotel with 300 rooms, restaurants, and family-friendly amenities will complement the park.
Tickets and hotel packages are already available for purchase on universalkidsresort.com. For travelers from the UK, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the nearest airport, with airlines like British Airways and Finnair offering direct flights from London Heathrow. Skyscanner indicates fares starting from £393 in July for those eager to explore the new theme park early on.
In addition to its existing theme parks in the USA, including Universal Studios Hollywood and the Orlando resort, Universal is also planning a UK theme park at a former brickworks site in Kempston Hardwick, Bedfordshire. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs and significantly boost the UK economy.
Universal has obtained approval from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government for the UK theme park development. The company intends to provide updates on job opportunities, partnerships with local businesses, and construction progress in the coming months. Furthermore, the park is expected to offer unique attractions, potentially featuring some of the tallest rides in Europe, reaching heights of up to 115m.
