Ukrainian forces have launched attacks on oil facilities and a passenger train in multiple locations in Russia and Russian-occupied Crimea, as confirmed by officials.
A significant plume of smoke was observed emanating from the Grushovaya oil trans-shipment base, where 130 firefighters were deployed by Russian authorities to extinguish the flames.
Simultaneously, a Ukrainian drone targeted a passenger train traveling from Moscow to Simferopol in occupied Crimea, resulting in injuries to the train driver and the death of the driver’s assistant, as reported by Kremlin-appointed regional leader Sergei Aksyonov.
Following the assault, all passenger train services in Crimea were suspended, with passengers evacuated and alternate bus transportation arranged by Russian operator Grand Service Express via Telegram.
The Russian Defence Ministry reported the downing of 310 Ukrainian drones on Sunday night, including incidents over Moscow, western and south-western Russia, as well as Russian-occupied Crimea, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov.
In retaliation, Russia launched 155 drones targeting Ukraine, with Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepting or neutralizing 124 of them, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
Ukraine’s General Staff disclosed that Ukrainian forces carried out strikes in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai region overnight, including hitting the Grushovaya oil trans-shipment base near Novorossiysk, a crucial hub for oil and petroleum products in southern Russia.
Confirming the attack, Russian regional authorities acknowledged that a Ukrainian drone caused a fire at the facility, with no reported casualties. However, the extent of damage was not specified, but the response involved 130 rescue personnel and 39 pieces of equipment to contain the fire.
Additionally, Ukraine targeted the Krasny Yar “linear production and dispatching station” in the Volgograd region, resulting in a fire outbreak at the site, as stated by the General Staff. Although the facility’s production was not disclosed by Russian governor Andrei Bocharov, no injuries were reported.
Further strikes were carried out by Ukrainian forces at the Semykolodezkaya oil base in the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula, igniting a fire at the facility used for storing fuel reserves supplying the Russian military, as detailed in a statement on Telegram. Ukraine also hit an oil depot near Feodosia in Crimea, according to the General Staff.
