Peter Murrell, formerly the party’s chief executive, confessed to misusing party funds for luxury purchases, such as a £124,000 motorhome and expensive watches and pens. Murrell’s unlawful spending also included minor expenses like hand cream, office supplies, and household items. The misuse of funds came to light during Operation Branchform, leading to Murrell’s arrest in April 2023 and subsequent charges in April 2024. He appeared in court, where he pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody pending sentencing on June 23.
