Conor McGregor has officially stated that he will not participate in the UFC’s event at the White House. Initially rumored to headline the fight against Michael Chandler on June 14 at President Donald Trump’s residence, McGregor is now anticipated to make his return to the octagon in July. UFC CEO Dana White is set to reveal the lineup for the White House card, but McGregor’s name is expected to be absent as he plans to fight later.
In an interview with Smash Cast, McGregor shared his thoughts about the missed opportunity, expressing his enthusiasm for the White House fight against Chandler. However, he acknowledged the change in plans, indicating that he is now preparing for an appearance during International Fight Week.
McGregor also confirmed that his next fight will be at welterweight, emphasizing his readiness to get back in the ring. While expressing disappointment about not facing Chandler as planned, he remains optimistic about the future matchups and is eager for a competitive offer.
As McGregor steps back from the White House card, the event may feature Jon Jones’ comeback against former middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who recently vacated his 205lb title.
