Sherrock Advises Darts Players: Push Through Illness

Must read

Fallon Sherrock has advised darts players to push through and avoid using illness as an excuse for subpar performances on the grand stage. While Michael van Gerwen has been absent from Premier League action due to illness, Sherrock has shown little sympathy towards the Dutch player.

Van Gerwen recently withdrew from three Premier League nights and seemed off his game upon his return against Gerwyn Price. Sherrock reacted dismissively when asked about Mighty Mike’s recent struggles.

Speaking on Double Tops, she remarked, “It’s undoubtedly challenging to downplay illness like Michael van Gerwen has experienced. However, the key is to strive for one’s best performance and persevere through it.”

She further emphasized the challenges female players face, mentioning the physical discomfort of dealing with menstrual cramps. Despite personal reservations about performing, Sherrock highlighted the necessity of delivering a strong performance on stage to avoid defeat, emphasizing the professional responsibility that comes with being a darts player.

Van Gerwen, despite his setbacks, currently holds the third position in the Premier League standings. Meanwhile, Luke Littler, following his second world title at Ally Pally, has had a challenging start to the competition, placing seventh out of eight players before the upcoming match in Cardiff.

Despite concerns about Littler’s form, Sherrock remains optimistic, stating, “He’s setting himself a challenge and I can see him coming back strongly in the later stages, surprising everyone with his performance.” She expressed confidence in Littler’s ability to secure a spot at the O2 in London, noting his strategic approach and potential to emerge victorious.
