Reform UK’s spokesperson for home affairs, Zia Yusuf, made strong statements about implementing a deportation force similar to the one used by former U.S. President Donald Trump, suggesting a willingness to challenge and potentially alter the UK’s constitution.
During a speech at the Heritage Foundation in Washington DC, Yusuf outlined plans to safeguard Britain by deporting a significant number of legal residents. These deportation efforts would be overseen by a specialized force inspired by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) units deployed in the United States.
Yusuf emphasized the professionalism and training of Reform’s proposed ICE squads but did not shy away from considering drastic actions, including the dissolution of the House of Lords if it obstructed the implementation of their strict deportation agenda.
In response to potential resistance, Yusuf stated, “If the House of Lords obstructs, we will dismiss it. Hopefully, it will not come to that.” When asked about the possibility of inciting civil unrest with these plans, he expressed confidence that protests and opposition were expected but would not deter their course of action.
Furthermore, Yusuf raised concerns about alleged foreign funding supporting opposition to Reform’s conservative policies, suggesting foreign interference in the Makerfield by-election without providing concrete evidence. This accusation mirrored similar claims made by Trump regarding protests against ICE in Minnesota earlier.
Despite facing potential pushback and criticism, Yusuf remained resolute, stating, “We will stay focused despite challenges from activists and media allies.”
