Two individuals lost their lives in a head-on collision involving a TUI tourist bus and three vehicles on the popular vacation destination of Lanzarote.

Two other individuals, including a young child, were swiftly transported to a hospital following the tragic accident on the LZ-2 highway in the southwestern part of the island.

The deceased victims were an Italian couple traveling with an eight-year-old child in one of the cars. The injured parties included the five-year-old child and a 36-year-old bus passenger, among a total of eight individuals who suffered injuries in the collision.

Upon receiving reports of the incident just before 7:45 pm yesterday, local law enforcement, Civil Guard, paramedics, and firefighters swiftly responded to the crash on the road connecting Playa Blanca resort to the small town of Yaiza.

A spokesperson from the emergency services stated, “A man and woman have perished in the accident. A five-year-old child with a moderate elbow injury was taken to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital by a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) during the initial care stage.”

The initial reports indicated a collision involving three cars and a bus. Firefighters secured the accident area, freed the trapped victims from the vehicles, and provided necessary assistance.

It was confirmed that two individuals from the same vehicle succumbed to their severe injuries. Emergency responders also aided a minor with moderate injuries, who was transported to the hospital by a medicalized ambulance.

The bus was carrying eight passengers along with the driver. The deceased individuals from the car are believed to be Italian nationals residing in Lanzarote. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.
