A dog trainer in Orange County, California, named Kwong ‘Tony’ Chun Sit, has been found guilty of causing the deaths of 11 dogs. The incident involved leaving the dogs in a hot van, resulting in their deaths due to heat stroke. Sit also attempted to cover up the crime by burning the bodies. His girlfriend, Tingfeng Liu, was also convicted for her involvement in the case.
The dogs were kept in small crates inside the van, where they tragically perished from the extreme heat. One of the dogs, Rosie, a sheepdog poodle puppy, suffered additional injuries. Sit went as far as pretending to be the dogs’ owners to have their bodies cremated, further deceiving authorities.
District Attorney Todd Spitzer condemned the actions, stating that the dogs’ greatest fear of being abandoned became a heartbreaking reality due to the cruel behavior of Sit and Liu. He emphasized the severity of animal abuse and highlighted the tragic fate of the innocent animals.
The couple’s attempt to conceal the deaths involved dropping off the dogs’ bodies at different crematoriums to avoid suspicion. The Irvine Police Department initiated an investigation after the dog owners received messages informing them of their pets’ deaths and cremation, leading to the discovery of the appalling truth.
Sit’s message to one of the dog owners, apologizing for the death of their pet and offering refunds and compensation, was part of the elaborate cover-up. The authorities uncovered the deceitful scheme, bringing justice for the senseless loss of the beloved dogs.
