During this summer’s World Cup, Andy Milne, a close friend of the famous ‘World Cup Guy,’ has struck a lucky deal with Hilton Hotels for accommodation. This opportunity arose after it was revealed that Andy was selling his second home to finance his journey to support England in the US. Despite two property viewings, no offers have been made yet for the £350,000 house.
Accompanied by his friend Stuart Kenyon, a geography teacher, Andy is touring all the World Cup venues for free, thanks to this arrangement. Their stay at the Hilton in Dallas included a reception where they mingled with England fans from across the US, marking the start of their seven-week adventure around the country.
Stuart, jokingly referring to their experience as a “tough gig,” reminisced about their past school trips abroad and expressed gratitude for their current stroke of luck. He highlighted the difference quality accommodation makes, mentioning a delightful meal of steak with shrimp.
Andy, a former teacher, is currently reveling in the World Cup experience in the United States, attending matches with Stuart. Both friends obtained £45 tickets through the official England fans’ club as a token of appreciation for their unwavering support.
Sharing his enthusiasm, Andy expressed that this World Cup, his 10th consecutive attendance since 2006, has presented some challenges due to the vast distances in Dallas. However, he remains optimistic and cherishes every moment at the remarkable event.
After the tournament, Andy plans to travel to Australia with his wife to welcome their first grandchild. He envisions updating his book, ‘That World Cup Guy,’ with new chapters if England secures victory in the tournament.
Andy gained recognition during a previous World Cup in Qatar for his jubilation after England’s victory, a moment captured in the Mirror. The Seven Doors manager, Jacob Quintana, praised the camaraderie and joy among fans during the lively England night event.
Hilton’s vice president, Stijn Bastiaens, emphasized the importance of supporting fans like Andy and hinted at an upcoming campaign featuring Andy alongside football icons.
