The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon around 4 pm, with the secluded beach located in the Costa Calida region of Murcia. The victim’s companions, also British, raised the alarm after he was found unconscious in the water, prompting a swift response from local authorities and emergency services.
Multiple emergency calls reported the difficulty in rescuing the swimmer, leading to the dispatch of various rescue teams, including the Civil Guard, local police, firefighters, and medical personnel. Despite immediate CPR efforts by those who pulled him from the water, the man could not be revived, and his death was confirmed by a physician on site.
