Apple has introduced a significant software update designed to enhance creativity for a broader audience. The tech giant from the US has unveiled a new platform named Creative Studio, offering MacBook and iPad users access to premium software at a more affordable monthly rate.
This service provides full access to professional applications like Final Cut Pro for video editing, Logic Pro for music creation, and Pixelmator Pro as an alternative to Adobe’s Photoshop.
Upon its launch later this month, Apple users can subscribe for £12.99 per month or £129 per year, a competitive pricing considering the bundled offerings. Final Cut Pro alone costs £300 on the App Store, while Logic Pro is priced at £200.
By transitioning to a subscription model for this software, Apple aims to make it more inclusive for a wider audience.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, stated, “Apple Creator Studio offers excellent value for creators of all kinds, providing easy access to powerful tools for video editing, music creation, creative imaging, and visual productivity, enhanced with advanced intelligent features to improve workflows.”
Additional features included in Creative Studio are MainStage, turning Mac into an instrument, voice processor, or guitar rig, and Motion, a robust graphics tool for creating cinematic 2D and 3D effects with intelligent functions like Magnetic Mask for isolating and tracking people and objects seamlessly.
Subscribers will also receive enhanced features and premium content for Keynote, Pages, Numbers apps, and Freeform for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, scheduled for later this year.
While Keynote, Pages, and Numbers remain free, they will see improvements for Creative Studio subscribers.
Cue added, “There has never been a more flexible and accessible way to access a powerful collection of creative apps for professionals, emerging artists, entrepreneurs, students, and educators to explore their creative interests from start to finish.”
Apple Creator Studio will be accessible on the App Store starting on Wednesday, January 28, with a one-month free trial for all users. Additionally, those purchasing a MacBook or iPad will receive a three-month trial period.
Apple has further announced discounted rates for university students, offering the software bundle at £2.99 per month or £29.99 per year to support education initiatives.
