A family in mourning was shocked when the urn they purchased from Amazon to hold their grandmother’s ashes turned out to contain another set of human remains, marking a disturbing second encounter with such a situation.
After the passing of their beloved matriarch Dorthy Kupsis at the age of 98 on May 27, the family sought a suitable urn to keep her ashes. They thought they had found the perfect one on Amazon.
The heart-shaped urn, intended to honor the grandmother, seemed pristine at first glance, giving no indication of any unexpected contents. However, upon closer inspection by Ashleigh Wegner, it was discovered to still hold some remains inside, leading to feelings of shock, disgust, and discomfort.
Despite the appearance of being new, the presence of foreign ashes tainted the urn for the family, who felt it was unsuitable for Dorthy. Ashleigh reached out to Amazon regarding this unsettling discovery and was offered a refund. Attempts to contact the third-party seller went unanswered, with Ashleigh expressing concern about the urn potentially being resold to another unsuspecting buyer.
Interestingly, this was not the first time Ashleigh had encountered human remains. In a previous incident, she and her husband had found abandoned ashes in an alley near their home, which they handed over to authorities for proper handling.
The family declined any involvement with those remains, leading Ashleigh and her husband to scatter them in the Arizona mountains. The Mirror has requested a comment from Amazon on the matter.
