“BT TV Users Alerted: Netflix App to No Longer Support Certain Set-Top Boxes”

Must read

A significant change is looming that will impact certain households’ ability to stream online content. UK homes using BT TV have been alerted that specific set-top boxes will no longer support the popular Netflix app due to an upcoming upgrade by the streaming platform. This upgrade will render older hardware incompatible with the service’s advancements.

Which devices will be affected by this change?

Two BT TV boxes will lose support for Netflix:

– TV Recordable Box (G4)
– TV Box (Z4)

BT explained, “Netflix is updating its app to enhance the user experience, making it incompatible with these boxes.”

According to Cordbusters, this change will come into effect on March 4, 2026. After this date, customers with these boxes will no longer be able to access Netflix titles like Drive to Survive, Stranger Things, Seven Dials, and Breaking Bad unless they upgrade to newer devices.

BT has confirmed that newer models will not face the Netflix block, stating, “The rest of our EE TV Boxes, including the 4K Recordable Box (G5), will continue to be supported.”

The company reassured customers that their Netflix subscriptions will remain unaffected, and they can still watch on supported devices.

Individuals using the affected boxes are advised to contact BT to discuss upgrading to a newer model.

Netflix will remain accessible through alternative devices such as smart TVs, Fire TV Sticks, gaming consoles, and Apple TV boxes.
