UK Traveler Seizes £20 Flight to Milan Over Pricier London Day

Must read

A voyage to Italy at a lower cost than a day in London prompted a swift decision from a seasoned traveler.

Being the UK’s capital, London often proves to be a pricey destination, especially when factoring in meals, shopping, and sightseeing. Thus, instead of incurring expenses for a day in London, Rhys Kelly seized a deal on a flight to Milan.

Securing flights for a mere £20, the 18-year-old embarked on a thrilling adventure exploring Milan’s stunning cityscape. From touring iconic landmarks and embarking on a cycling excursion to savoring local delicacies, Rhys maximized his 11-hour stint in the Italian metropolis before jetting back home the same day.

In total, the whirlwind escapade cost Rhys £115, less than what a London day out would have amounted to. “This is a must-not-miss day trip,” shared the Nottingham-based university student with creatorzine.com.

“If you’re in university, consider embarking on this midweek for the best rates since you’ll have ample time. Milan is compact, allowing 24 hours to be sufficient,” Rhys added.

Opting for an overseas day trip over a domestic excursion, Rhys secured budget flights from London Heathrow to Milan via Skyscanner. Departing early in the morning and returning later that evening, Rhys and friends alighted at Malpensa Airport, caught a train to the city center, and rented e-bikes from Dott bikes for a mere €5 (£4.32) to explore the city.

“The highlight was undoubtedly cycling around on Dott bikes, enabling us to cover a significant portion of the city in a short span,” Rhys recounted. “With approximately 11 hours at our disposal for exploration before returning to the airport for our flight.”

Throughout the day, Rhys and his companions marveled at Milan’s renowned attractions, including the grand Duomo Cathedral. Indulging in a €9 (£7.78) pizza, which Rhys deemed the best value, the group also perused upscale stores like Prada, Stüssy, and Supreme in the fashion hub before relishing Italian gelato prior to departing for the airport. Though Rhys omitted certain retail expenditures from his total, he was content with his expenses and opined that travelers could accomplish the trip for even less.

“I splurged at Supreme, which isn’t necessary. Realistically, one could enjoy a day trip for £60,” Rhys suggested.
