Tributes are being paid to a young woman described as a “beautiful soul” who tragically lost her life in a car collision in Ireland over the weekend. Chloe Hipson, aged 21, from Lanarkshire, Scotland, was one of the victims in the accident that also claimed the lives of Chloe McGee, Shay Duffy, Alan McCluskey, and Dylan Commins. The collision occurred when the Volkswagen Golf they were traveling in collided with a Toyota Land Cruiser near Dundalk just after 9pm on Saturday.
Another individual in the Golf, also in their 20s, is currently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The group was reportedly en route to Dundalk for a night out when the incident took place.
Chloe, who hailed from Bellshill, is being remembered fondly by many, including North Motherwell FC, where her brother Ryan Hipson is a veteran player. The football club expressed deep sadness over Chloe’s passing and announced a minute of silence in her honor.
Online tributes poured in for Chloe, with many describing her as a kind and lovely individual. Elizabeth Elliott and Lee Connolly shared heartfelt messages expressing their shock and sorrow at her untimely death.
Following the collision, two individuals from the other vehicle involved were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities appealing for any information that could help shed light on the tragic event.
Garda Superintendent Charlie Armstrong extended condolences to the families impacted by the loss, emphasizing the profound impact the tragedy will have on the local communities in Ireland and Scotland. He also urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
