A significant number of applications and services require users to pay a monthly fee for their usage, and now WhatsApp may be following suit. Recent findings by WABetaInfo suggest that the chat app, owned by Meta, is in the works of introducing an upgrade named WhatsApp Plus.
The upcoming version is anticipated to introduce exclusive enhancements and functionalities, such as the ability to pin more chats, an increase from the current 3 to a more practical 20, as well as enhanced customization options like changing the app theme, icon, and accent colors.
Furthermore, users might gain access to bonus stickers, extra ringtones, and enhanced chat interactions with immersive reactions. WABetaInfo explained, “WhatsApp is working on a new optional premium subscription plan called ‘WhatsApp Plus’ for the regular user app, offering additional features in exchange for a monthly fee. This plan is currently in development for Android and iOS platforms and has not been publicly released yet.”
In addition to the initial upgrades, Meta could potentially introduce more features over time for users willing to pay for them. While WhatsApp has not confirmed these speculations, test versions of the Plus app have been observed by WABetaInfo, indicating ongoing development.
It’s important to note that the free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be obligated to subscribe. The introduction of WhatsApp Plus aims to provide an added benefit to users who are willing to pay a monthly fee voluntarily.
Stay tuned for further updates on WhatsApp Plus. Keep an eye out for more information in the near future.
