The leader of Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua street gang, known for his notorious reputation, was reportedly eliminated in a decisive military operation executed by the US forces, as confirmed by former President Donald Trump.
Donald Trump took to Truth Social to announce the successful mission, stating, “Under my command, the United States Southern Command carried out a swift and lethal strike to eliminate Nino Guerrero, the infamous head of the Tren De Aragua, a highly violent Terrorist Group.”
Emphasizing the eradication of Tren de Aragua’s presence in Venezuela and beyond, Trump vowed to relentlessly pursue and bring to justice these ruthless criminals and drug traffickers under his leadership.
Accompanied by a dramatic video depicting an explosion at a targeted facility, the exact timing of the operation was not disclosed by Trump. US defense secretary Pete Hegseth revealed that the strike occurred earlier in the week at a Tren de Aragua compound in Venezuela.
While Venezuelan authorities have yet to comment on the military action, the US Central Command reported intercepting multiple Iranian drones aiming to attack commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial point in peace negotiations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi hinted at the possibility of adjustments to a peace agreement with the US, signaling progress towards resolving the conflict. Araqchi asserted Iran’s strengthened position post-conflict, declaring victory in the standoff with the US on national television.
