“Tetbury in Cotswolds Named ‘Rivals’ Filming Location”

Must read

A charming town in the Cotswolds, known for its royal connections and a scenic walk along a former railway, has been chosen as a filming location for the popular series “Rivals.”

The second season of the well-received Disney+ drama “Rivals” is back, showcasing the fierce rivalry between Corinium and Venturer for the television franchises in the central south west. The show, based on Jilly Cooper’s novel, captures the competitive world of 1980s television, filled with scandal, secrets, and romance among Britain’s affluent class.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of “Rivals” since its debut in 2024. The show’s filming locations include Bristol, Corsham in Wiltshire, Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire, and various spots in the West of England and the Cotswolds.

One of the notable filming locations is Tetbury, the second-largest town in the Cotswolds, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Tetbury, where Jilly Cooper resided for decades, provided a picturesque backdrop for Rutshire in the series.

The town exudes a cinematic charm with its historic Georgian buildings and golden stone architecture lining the streets. Tetbury boasts a variety of shops in key areas like Market Place, Chipping Street, Church Street, and Long Street, some of which were featured in “Rivals.” Visitors can enjoy browsing independent boutiques, antique stores, and art galleries, as well as dining at cozy cafes and eateries.

After exploring the town, visitors can embark on the Tetbury Trail, a scenic three-mile pedestrian and cycle path along the former Tetbury railway line. The trail offers a glimpse of the Gloucestershire countryside and includes an exercise trail for fitness enthusiasts.

Tetbury is not the only filming location in Gloucestershire for “Rivals.” The Beaufort Polo Club and Chavenage House, portraying Declan O’Hara’s manor, were also featured. Nearby Berkeley Castle stood in for Cameron Cook’s residence, Hamilton Terrace.

Highgrove House, the private home of King Charles and Queen Camilla, is located in Tetbury, offering royal enthusiasts the chance to visit through guided tours or afternoon tea experiences. Visitors can also explore the Highgrove shop on Tetbury High Street for luxurious gifts and country clothing.
