“Pilot’s Pre-Flight Ritual Revealed: Vanilla Latte and Almond Croissant”

Must read

Operating an aircraft involves unconventional working hours, with flight schedules varying throughout the day. Despite the irregularity, a particular pilot has a pre-flight ritual he faithfully performs regardless of the time.

Observing a crew member or pilot confidently navigating the terminal in their immaculate uniform and well-packed travel bag can evoke a sense of admiration from onlookers, akin to encountering a celebrity or witnessing something extraordinary.

This curiosity surrounding individuals who make the sky their workplace at cruising altitudes of 41,000 feet was addressed by pilot Tom Copestake, shedding light on his pre-flight routine whether he takes off early in the morning or late at night.

Tom, a seasoned Wizz Air pilot with over four years of experience, has flown thousands of passengers across more than 750 flights spanning over 50 countries. In an exclusive interview with the Mirror, he shared, “My workday can start as early as 3am or as late as 6pm, but one thing remains constant – I always kick off with a vanilla latte and an almond croissant. It serves as a mental reset, signifying the beginning of my work shift. It’s become a ritual that I find quite beneficial.”

Not confined to the airport, Tom, stationed at London Luton Airport, enjoys his coffee and croissant amidst breathtaking views, particularly over the Alps. Expressing his awe, he remarked, “Looking down at untouched terrains on earth makes you feel both insignificant and exhilarated. Whether it’s snow-capped mountains or vast deserts, the experience is truly remarkable.”

Providing a deeper glimpse into the life of a pilot, Tom emphasized the customer service aspect of his job within the aviation industry, highlighting the diverse stories and motivations behind each traveler he has flown. “From leisure trips to family visits and work-related journeys, every passenger adds a unique layer to this experience, which I deeply value. It’s a privilege to be in this role,” he added humbly.
