After being eliminated from the W Canadian Championship, the Montreal Roses took action by dismissing their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, made the announcement on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his role in establishing the professional women’s soccer club during its early stages.
Acknowledging that parting ways with a coach is a difficult decision, the club emphasized the need for a fresh perspective to navigate the rest of the season and drive the club’s growth. Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 remaining matches in the regular season.
Robert Rositoiu assumed the head coach position in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach while the club seeks a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel will lead the team in the upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
