Must read

UK households relying on Freeview for TV content are advised to check their equipment and perform a quick retune due to recent channel changes. Freeview has confirmed updates including channel renaming and repositioning in the TV guide. While not a major upheaval, a quick retune is recommended to ensure up-to-date TV access.

Freeview announced, “On 20th May 2026, certain broadcasters are adjusting their channels. To keep your channels and TV Guide current, a retune is necessary.”

Changes include the renaming of Hobbycraft TV to Shop Unlimited on channel 97 and Great! Romance Mix to Great! TV +1 on channel 61. Additionally, Great! Movies will shift from channel 61 to channel 62, with Great! TV +1 now on channel 61.

Freeview emphasized that channel adjustments are a part of ongoing evolution, with providers deciding on channel movements, additions, or removals. The platform aims to offer diverse and engaging content for viewers.

For those not seeing the updates, manual retuning may be required. To retune your TV, follow these steps:
– Press the menu button on your TV or set-top box remote
– Select “set-up,” “installation,” “update,” or a similar option
– If prompted for a password, try “1234” or “0000”
– Choose “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” “full retune,” or “default settings”
– Confirm deletion of existing channels if prompted
– The retune process should start automatically
– Save any channels found during the scan if prompted
