Walt Disney World is a popular destination among UK families. Despite the travel challenges and expenses involved, many consider it a place to visit when children are older. However, as a parent eager to introduce my toddler to the magic of Disney, I embarked on a 10-hour flight to Orlando to explore the park with my two-year-old.
While it’s no walk in the park to travel with a toddler, our experience at Walt Disney World was surprisingly enjoyable. We discovered numerous activities suitable for young children, as many rides do not have height restrictions.
At Magic Kingdom, we enjoyed rides like Peter Pan’s Flight, It’s A Small World, and Aladdin’s Flying Carpets. Our toddler, though not well-versed in Disney films, had a blast with the vibrant atmosphere, music, and colors. Additionally, attractions like Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin provided interactive entertainment for both adults and children.
EPCOT offered pleasant experiences with rides such as Remy’s Ratatouille and Frozen Ever After. The Butterfly Garden and the ‘Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana’ were highlights that provided a cool respite from the Florida heat.
Animal Kingdom’s laid-back ambiance, with attractions like the Kilimanjaro Safaris and Avatar Na’vi River Journey, captivated our child’s interest in animals and nature.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios, known for its thrill rides, surprised us with family-friendly options like Toy Story Mania and the Alien Swirling Saucers. The park also featured the lively Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show.
While Magic Kingdom is renowned for its classic attractions, EPCOT and Animal Kingdom emerged as personal favorites with a toddler. EPCOT’s diverse pavilions allowed me to explore while my child napped, and Animal Kingdom’s animal-centric environment offered a relaxed setting.
Disney’s facilities cater well to families with young children, providing pram-friendly options and transport services like the monorail and Disney buses. The availability of kid-friendly food and the flexibility to bring snacks into the parks made dining hassle-free.
Naps played a crucial role in managing our toddler’s energy levels, allowing us to relax and recharge during downtime. While evening shows may be challenging with a young child, daytime parades and attractions still capture the essence of the Disney experience.
It’s essential to avoid overwhelming schedules and focus on enjoying quality time with your child at the Disney parks. Despite the time zone difference, the engaging activities in Florida kept our child occupied, making the adjustment easier.
For a family-friendly Disney experience, consider booking a Hotel and Ticket package at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. Virgin Atlantic offers direct flights from the UK to Orlando for convenient travel arrangements.
