A young boy from Calgary who was saved from drowning in a British Columbia river is currently recuperating in a hospital, with reports indicating severe damage to his lungs. The incident involving nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren occurred on August 3 as he was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby. Witnesses observed him failing to resurface after going underwater.
Maria Warren, the boy’s mother, recounted how bystanders at the beach sprang into action, swiftly pulling him from the water shortly after he vanished. According to an official statement from the RCMP, Paul-Angelo was trapped against fallen debris by the river’s swift current before being rescued and administered CPR upon reaching the shore. Authorities estimate that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes.
Presently, the child is being cared for at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, where his family remains at his side. Maria expressed her unwavering presence beside her son, stating, “I always, always stay with him because I want to make sure that when he opens his eyes, he will see me right away and hear my voice.”
The family continues to hope for Paul-Angelo’s recovery as they stand vigil at the hospital.
