“Gordie Howe International Bridge Draws Thousands in Opening”

Statistics Canada reported that upon its opening, tens of thousands of drivers crossed the Gordie Howe International Bridge into Canada in the initial days. The much-awaited bridge linking Windsor and Detroit commenced operations on July 27, following a series of delays. According to preliminary data from StatCan, 18,900 return trips were made by Canadian residents from the U.S. via the Gordie Howe bridge within the first five days. During the same timeframe, 18,100 U.S. residents traveled across the bridge into Canada.

Additionally, StatCan noted that the Ambassador Bridge and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel observed a combined total of 52,700 inbound trips by both Canadian and U.S. residents during the same period. Notably, 4,100 commercial trucks journeyed to Canada via the Gordie Howe bridge in the closing days of July.
