Russian MP Urges Putin to Halt Ukraine Conflict

Must read

Russian opposition MP Vyacheslav Markhayev has urged President Vladimir Putin to halt the ongoing conflict in Ukraine immediately. Markhayev warned that Russia is on the verge of a social crisis due to the devastating consequences of the war. He emphasized the urgent need for Putin and his government to act sensibly to prevent the country from descending into chaos.

The criticism of Putin comes as Ukraine gains momentum in the conflict, resulting in significant casualties and severe fuel shortages in Russia. Markhayev, a former police general, condemned Putin for endangering the lives of young Russian men by persisting with the war, which could soon lead to the loss of land access to Crimea for Russia.

Markhayev stressed the necessity for a transparent plan to end the military operation in alignment with Russia’s national interests. He emphasized that the current situation could trigger a social explosion, attributing full responsibility to the authorities.

The MP highlighted the tragic death of Alisher Svirin, the first Russian soldier born in 2008, who succumbed to the war at the age of 18. Markhayev likened Putin’s actions to those of a foreign invader, accusing the regime of prioritizing personal enrichment over national welfare.

He criticized the government for neglecting the needs of the population, particularly the elderly who struggle to afford basic utilities on meager allowances. Markhayev called for concrete measures to support ordinary citizens instead of lavishly funding the elite class.

Despite the ongoing conflict, the number of Russian billionaires has surged to a historic high, accumulating vast wealth that surpasses the federal budget. Markhayev underscored the rampant corruption and inefficiencies within Putin’s administration, leading to detrimental consequences for the population.

The MP warned of escalating attacks on Russian cities, increased drone supplies from the West, and the risk of social upheaval if the current trajectory persists. He cautioned that further destabilization could pave the way for external interference to dismantle Russian sovereignty.

Markhayev criticized Putin’s long-standing rule, highlighting the disconnect between the ruling authorities and the general populace. He called for a reality check from the government to address the pressing issues facing the nation.

Recent strikes by Ukraine targeting Russian infrastructure in Crimea underscore the escalating tensions in the region. Markhayev’s plea for accountability and sensible governance echoes growing concerns over the future trajectory of Russian politics and society.
