“Reform’s Danny Kruger Stands by Controversial Candidate Amid Criticism”

Must read

Reform’s Danny Kruger has expressed support for the Makerfield by-election candidate, despite facing criticism for inappropriate comments regarding Carol Vorderman.

During a heated exchange on BBC, the former Tory MP stated that he would not intervene in the candidate’s past remarks, following accusations of misogyny by the former Countdown star against Robert Kenyon.

This controversy arose when campaign group HopeNotHate revealed that Mr. Kenyon, chosen as Reform’s candidate to challenge Labour’s Andy Burnham in the crucial by-election, had two X accounts. One of these accounts was suspended by the platform, while the other was deleted.

In a discussion with Today program presenter Emma Barnett, Mr. Kruger was confronted with evidence of Mr. Kenyon supporting a degrading message directed at Carol Vorderman on Twitter. Mr. Kruger defended the candidate, attributing the incident to a private conversation mistakenly shared publicly.

Carol Vorderman herself labeled Kenyon as a misogynist, expressing strong disapproval of his online behavior. Despite the public outcry, Mr. Kruger stood by Kenyon, emphasizing that the candidate’s lack of political refinement could be an asset in representing ordinary citizens effectively.

Reform UK echoed their support for Kenyon, asserting that his authenticity and direct communication style would resonate with the working-class voters in Makerfield. The party maintained its stance even after the revelations from Kenyon’s deleted social media accounts.

Overall, the situation has sparked debate over the boundaries of public discourse and political accountability, highlighting the complexities of social media interactions in the realm of politics.
