The popular snooker game show, Big Break, is set to make a comeback with Paddy McGuinness and seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry as hosts, as confirmed by the BBC. The upcoming series will feature top snooker stars competing for cash prizes for contestants in a reimagined format.

Expressing his excitement about hosting the show, McGuinness stated, “Being part of Big Break is a fantastic opportunity. Collaborating with the legendary Stephen Hendry to host this beloved show is truly special.”

Hendry, a seven-time World Snooker Championship winner, commented, “Big Break was a unique blend of trick shots and entertainment. I look forward to reintroducing this incredible show to a new audience, potentially inspiring the next generation of snooker players.”

Production for the series will commence soon, with broadcasts scheduled on BBC Two and the BBC iPlayer. More details regarding viewing options will be announced in due course.

The return of Big Break follows the recent passing of John Virgo, who was closely associated with the show in the 1990s. Tributes to Virgo were a regular feature during the 2026 World Snooker Championships broadcasted on the BBC.

The 22-year-old Chinese snooker player, Wu Yize, clinched the world championship title at the Crucible, drawing in nearly four million viewers for his intense 18-17 victory against Shaun Murphy in the final.

BBC’s head of Daytime and Early Peak Commissioning, Rob Unsworth, expressed enthusiasm for the revival of Big Break, acknowledging the demand from fans and professionals in the snooker community. The revamped show aims to showcase established and emerging snooker talents, catering to the vast online snooker fan base.

Alex McLeod, the Commissioning Editor for BBC Daytime, highlighted the show’s return as timely, promising a mix of fun and impressive shots with McGuinness and Hendry at the forefront. The Big Break revival is expected to capitalize on the success of the recent Snooker World Championship, offering entertainment for families across different viewing platforms.
