Jet2 has revealed two new Greek destinations that will be accessible from Leeds Bradford Airport in the upcoming summer of 2027. The airline is introducing flights to Santorini and Preveza for the first time, with services to Preveza scheduled every Sunday until October 10, 2027, and Santorini flights departing on Thursdays until October 7, 2027.
Santorini, known for its breathtaking beauty and geological marvels, has always been a prominent figure in Greek holiday hotspots. The island’s dramatic terrain was shaped by a significant volcanic eruption in history, resulting in steep cliffs surrounding a caldera, topped with traditional whitewashed Greek villages offering stunning vistas of the sea. The iconic images associated with Santorini often feature Oia or Fira, the island’s vibrant capital.
Perched on the rim of an extinct volcano, Oia offers mesmerizing views of the azure waters from its numerous cliffside buildings. This is the picture-perfect Santorini that many have admired on platforms like Pinterest, albeit it gets heavily crowded during the summer season. Just a short 20-minute journey from Oia leads to Fira, where cliffside pathways provide spectacular panoramas, hidden gems to explore, and a plethora of charming boutiques and dining venues to indulge in.
In contrast, Preveza is a hidden gem in northwestern Greece, offering a tranquil Mediterranean escape with a touch of authenticity. It combines ancient heritage, stunning coastal landscapes, and exceptional seafood. Often overshadowed by neighboring Lefkada or Parga, Preveza is an ideal spot for a laid-back retreat, boasting 60km of pristine beaches, rich history, and lively nightlife. The area is connected to the Greek mainland via Greece’s first undersea tunnel.
Jet2’s Summer 2027 timetable at Leeds Bradford Airport is set to be the most extensive yet, with nearly two million seats available across 53 routes. In addition to the new Greek services, the airline is also introducing flights to popular Egyptian destinations Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh from the North East airport. Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, expressed excitement over the growing demand for their flights and holidays, emphasizing the expanded program’s aim to offer holidaymakers more options and flexibility.
Declan Maguire, the Aviation Director at Leeds Bradford Airport, highlighted the significance of adding Preveza and Santorini to the airport’s route network for Summer 2027. He emphasized that these new destinations bring diversity and excitement to the airport’s offerings, providing Yorkshire residents with a broader range of choices for their travel plans.
