“Argos Launches Manhattan S4-R Set-Top Box: No Monthly Fees, 100+ Channels”

Must read

Argos introduces a new device, the Manhattan S4-R set-top box, as an alternative to Sky Q with no monthly fees. This device offers features like recording programs, pausing live TV, and storing content on its hard drive. The S4-R operates on Freesat, utilizing an existing satellite dish to provide free access to over 100 channels, including popular ones like BBC and Channel 4.

With a user-friendly interface, built-in search capabilities, and access to on-demand content, the Manhattan S4-R offers over 60,000 hours of entertainment. Although it does not provide premium sports and movie packages like Sky Q, Freesat offers a completely free viewing experience.

Priced at £219.99, the Manhattan S4-R 500GB model is available at retailers such as Argos and Amazon. Larger 1TB and 2TB versions are expected soon due to high demand. Manhattan’s COO, Alex Arbab-Zadeh, states that the S4-R enhances recording capabilities by allowing up to four simultaneous recordings, providing an affordable and flexible option for households seeking to replace subscription TV services.

In a similar move, the Pleio puck challenges traditional TV providers by offering free streaming access to over 50 live channels without an aerial. After initial stock shortages, the Pleio puck is now available for £99.99, including a gaming controller and access to over 200 online games.

Sky has announced a 20% price reduction on the Sky Glass Air TV ahead of the World Cup, with prices starting from £4.50 per month. For the upgraded Sky Glass Gen 2 model featuring a 4K Quantum Dot display and built-in Dolby Atmos soundbar, customers can expect to pay from £11 per month.
