“Pet Monkey Fatally Wounds Boy in Thailand Tragedy”

Must read

A tragic incident occurred when a seven-year-old boy was fatally wounded by his pet monkey in Thailand. The boy, Ekkarat Srichan, was playing near his home when the monkey named Choke viciously attacked him, causing severe injuries. Local residents heard the commotion and found the boy covered in wounds, with the monkey visibly aggressive.

Despite being rushed to a hospital in Sichon, southern Thailand, Ekkarat succumbed to his injuries on June 6 in the Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The monkey, tied to a bamboo pole but with enough slack to move freely, was later released by the boy’s grandfather, prompting a search by wildlife workers and police.

The boy’s mother, Daranee Srichan, revealed the extent of her son’s injuries, explaining that the monkey’s bite had punctured his lung, leading to his tragic death. She expressed deep regret over the incident and vowed not to keep any more monkeys to prevent further harm.

Neighbors described the macaque as aggressive, having displayed hostile behavior towards strangers and even attacking a stray cat previously. Authorities successfully located the monkey with the help of wildlife experts using tranquilizer guns due to its aggressive nature.

Ekkarat’s grandfather, who had rescued the monkey in the past, expressed remorse over the incident, admitting his mistake in keeping the animal. Authorities mentioned that while owning macaques is legal in Thailand under strict regulations, unauthorized possession could result in prosecution. The grandfather would be questioned regarding the incident to ensure compliance with the law.
