“West Ham Co-Owner Donates £112,500 to Conservative Party Amid Prostitution Scandal”

Must read

The Conservative Party has received a total of £112,500 in donations from David Sullivan, the co-owner of West Ham, following his involvement in a prostitution scandal that led to his imprisonment.

Several women have come forward accusing Sullivan, a billionaire, of exploiting his power and preying on them, particularly when they were young adults. These serious allegations have prompted the Independent Football Regulator to initiate contact with West Ham, seeking urgent clarification from Sullivan regarding his suitability for his position. Despite vehemently denying any wrongdoing and resigning as joint-chairman and director of the club to combat what he labels as false accusations, Sullivan remains the primary shareholder of West Ham.

Since 2014, Sullivan has contributed £112,500 to the Conservative Party through his company Conegate Limited. The most recent donation was made four years ago. Additionally, in 2022, West Ham United utilized club funds to make a £9,000 donation to the Conservative Party shortly before the resignation of Prime Minister Liz Truss.

Records from the Electoral Commission reveal that The Hammers also donated £12,500 in 2016. Sullivan was present at the 2015 Conservative Black and White Ball, an event for party donors where attendees bid on luxury auction items. Arriving in a vibrant red Rolls-Royce, Sullivan was accompanied by his business partner David Gold and his daughter Jacqueline, who arrived in a silver Rolls-Royce.

The first public allegations regarding Sullivan’s abuse of power emerged in 1981 when a journalist investigated following a complaint from a woman. The journalist, Tina Dalgleish, reported an incident where Sullivan allegedly demanded sexual favors as part of a job offer. In 1982, Sullivan was convicted of profiting from massage parlors involved in illegal activities, leading to a brief period of incarceration.

In another instance, Sullivan provided testimony implicating a Metropolitan Police sergeant in corrupt activities in exchange for assistance in his legal case. As a result, an investigation ensued, and charges were brought against the sergeant for attempting to defraud Sullivan.

In 2023, the Football Association initiated an investigation into Sullivan’s conduct, prompting a safeguarding group to restrict his access to West Ham’s youth and women’s teams. Subsequently, a temporary agreement was reached between Sullivan and the FA, prohibiting him from unsupervised interactions with academy or women’s team players until a historical complaint was resolved.

The Conservative Party has been approached by The Mirror for a response regarding these developments.
