Must read

Two-year-old Lane Thomas Graves tragically lost his life in a tragic alligator attack at Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa ten years ago. In memory of Lane, his parents, Matt and Melissa Graves, are dedicated to honoring his legacy. They described Lane as a loving and caring child with a special light about him, expressing their desire to keep his memory alive as they approach the anniversary of his passing.

To commemorate the ten-year milestone since Lane’s passing, the couple has released a nine-minute memorial video in his honor, which will be accessible on the Lane Thomas Foundation’s website. Matt Graves shared that they made a promise at Lane’s wake to turn the tragedy into something positive for many families, emphasizing their commitment to honoring Lane’s spirit through the foundation.

The tragic incident occurred on June 14, 2016, while the Graves family was on vacation from Nebraska. While playing in a lagoon near the resort, Lane was attacked by an alligator, despite his father’s efforts to save him. Lane’s body was discovered the following day by a dive team. In response to the tragedy, his parents established the Lane Thomas Foundation to provide support to families facing crises and to promote organ donation awareness.

Melissa and Matt Graves’ foundation offers financial assistance to families of children in need of transplants, aiming to ease their burden during challenging times. Following Lane’s passing, the couple welcomed their third child, son Christian Lane Graves, believing that their family was blessed with a precious miracle despite the enduring pain of losing Lane.

After the incident, wildlife officials removed 250 alligators from Disney properties in 2021, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to ensure visitor safety.
