A prince and his newly engaged partner have received congratulations after he proposed during a trip overseas.
Prince Johannes Oettingen-Wallerstein, a descendant of a prominent noble family in Germany, asked his girlfriend, Luisa Textor, to marry him while they were attending a family wedding in Japan.
At the age of 27, Johannes presented 25-year-old Luisa with a stunning triple sapphire ring, capturing their joy in a beautiful selfie shared to announce the engagement, set against a picturesque backdrop.
The delightful news was revealed on social media by Johannes’ father, Prince Carl Eugen zu Oettingen-Wallerstein. In an Instagram post, he excitedly announced the engagement, expressing happiness for the couple and wishing them a bright future ahead.
Although not widely known as royalty, Johannes belongs to the Oettingen family, a distinguished lineage from Franconia and Swabia that had extensive holdings from the 12th to the 19th century. He is the grandson of the current head of the dynasty.
The couple has not announced a wedding date yet. While Prince Carl shared the engagement news on his Instagram, it is unclear if the couple did the same on their private accounts.
Sweet messages poured in for the couple on Johannes’ father’s post, with well-wishers congratulating the family on the engagement.
Johannes and his fiancée were in Japan for the wedding of his maternal uncle, Prince Peter of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, who married Yurina Hattori-Roche in a Shinto ceremony following another wedding at Schloss Sayn.
Prince Carl, Johannes’ father, married Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn in 1994, and they have two children together, Johannes and Princess Helena.
Johannes also has three half-siblings. His half brother, Prince Eugen, is from his father’s second marriage, while his half sister and half brother, Countess Elisabetta and Count Lászlo, are from his mother’s second marriage.
