The popular series “Heated Rivalry” has added more star power to its cast for the upcoming second season. The Canadian hockey drama, produced by Bell Media’s Crave streaming service, saw immense success in its first season, gaining global recognition after being picked up by HBO in the U.S. and internationally. The lead actors, Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, and François Arnaud, experienced a career boost due to the show’s popularity.

New cast members announced recently include Ukrainian-American actress Milla Jovovich, known for her roles in the “Resident Evil” franchise and “The Fifth Element.” Kevin Zegers, originating from Woodstock, Ont., who has appeared in various TV series and films, and Canadian actor Paul Gross, recognized for his work in TV series and movies that he also wrote and directed.

The series, based on Nova Scotia author Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” books, depicts a hidden romance between two rival hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. In the upcoming season, Paul Gross will portray hockey league commissioner Roger Crowell, while Kevin Zegers will play Coach Wiebe of the Ottawa Centaurs team where Rozanov plays. Milla Jovovich will take on the role of Dr. Galina Molchalina, a therapist supporting Rozanov.

Moreover, the new season will feature returning actors from Season 1 and a lineup of Canadian talent, including Charlie Gillespie, Daniel Diemer, Emily Hampshire, and Priyanka. The second season of “Heated Rivalry” is set to premiere on Crave in Spring 2027, with shooting already underway since August 17, as confirmed by series creator and director Jacob Tierney.

Despite its immense success, “Heated Rivalry” is not eligible for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. However, the show dominated the Canadian Screen Awards, winning 13 awards, including Best Drama and Best Lead Performer for Hudson Williams. Connor Storrie is also up for his first-ever award for hosting “Saturday Night Live” earlier this year.
