After the passing of Matthew Perry in 2023, fans were shocked to learn about his ketamine addiction, which contrasted with his beloved character, Chandler Bing, from the TV show Friends. To shed light on the actor’s life, Netflix has announced a three-part docuseries titled “The One About Matthew Perry.”
The series will delve into Perry’s journey from a rising comedic talent to his iconic role on Friends. It will feature never-before-heard accounts from his inner circle, including his sister Mia Perry Bowick, a grief specialist who has openly discussed her own grieving process following Perry’s death.
Bowick shared, “It’s taken time for me to feel ready to share these memories and what it was like to love Matthew through all the complexity of his life — to see him as a whole person, not just as Chandler, and not just as someone who struggled with addiction.”
Tragically, Perry was discovered deceased from a ketamine overdose in his backyard hot tub at the age of 54. Five individuals have admitted guilt to supplying him with the drug, with one of them, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, appealing his 30-month prison sentence for selling ketamine to Perry.
Netflix has assured viewers that “The One About Matthew Perry” will offer a comprehensive look into the actor’s life, featuring candid insights into his personal struggles while honoring his legacy of honesty and advocacy. The docuseries is set to premiere on October 27.
