Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall pertains to Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or second-row driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This flaw could compromise the second-row seat belt system’s effectiveness, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Stellantis has been made aware of one injury possibly linked to this issue but no fatalities have been reported.
The recall affects 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 elsewhere globally. Stellantis will be reaching out to affected vehicle owners to arrange for inspections at authorized dealerships. During these inspections, dealers will assess the second-row center and second-row driver seat belt buckle anchor and, if necessary, securely attach it to the vehicle’s body to address the issue.
