An Amazon delivery driver is facing accusations of taking a family’s cat, claiming that the cat is actually his own pet. Joshua Gonzalez maintains that the black-and-grey feline is his and had gone missing from his home in the same area. Caught on Brenda Wilson’s doorbell camera in Bakersfield, California, Joshua stated that he “just grabbed him and walked off.”
As a father, Joshua emphasized that he did nothing wrong except retrieving his cat. He asserted that the cat is now back in its rightful home and compared it to a person finding their lost pet. However, Brenda insists that the cat, known as Junie to her family, belongs to them. Although she reported the incident to the police, no charges have been filed against Joshua.
Amazon confirmed that Joshua, who worked for a third-party company, is no longer permitted to deliver packages for them. The company stated that they are cooperating with law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
Joshua has produced documentation showing that he adopted the cat on October 9, 2025, for his seven-year-old daughter. He identified the cat based on its unique features and maintained that it recognized him and appeared happy at home with its toys. The police have kept the case open, and investigations into the dispute are ongoing.
An Amazon spokesperson mentioned that they have been in touch with the driver’s employer and have restricted him from delivering Amazon packages. They reiterated their commitment to collaborating with law enforcement and following their lead in the investigation.
