Legendary Jockey Frankie Dettori Hospitalized

Must read

Legendary horse racing figure Frankie Dettori has been hospitalized following a harrowing incident that resulted in his car overturning. The former Italian jockey was in a vehicle in Newmarket, Suffolk, when it collided with another car, leading to a serious accident that left Dettori with multiple injuries.

Reportedly, Dettori’s car spun and flipped after being struck on the rear passenger side. Emergency responders promptly arrived at the scene, and Dettori was swiftly transported to the hospital for medical attention.

At 55 years old, Dettori received treatment for a fractured thumb and several broken ribs. He is currently hospitalized for further monitoring and assessment.

H Talent Management, Dettori’s representatives, issued a statement confirming the accident and his injuries. They highlighted that another vehicle impacted the rear of Dettori’s car, causing it to spin and overturn, resulting in his injuries.

Dettori, renowned for his remarkable career spanning nearly four decades, announced his retirement earlier this year. A three-time British flat racing Champion Jockey, he boasts an impressive record of 288 Grade 1 victories, solidifying his legacy as a racing great.

One of Dettori’s most notable achievements occurred in October 1996 at Ascot, where he achieved the rare feat of winning all seven races at the event. His last race in Britain was in October 2023, culminating in a memorable Champion Stakes triumph aboard King Of Steel at Ascot.

After wrapping up his illustrious racing career in November 2025 at the Breeders’ Cup in the United States, where he received an honorary MBE in 2001, Dettori now calls California home with his family.

Notably, Dettori had previously survived a terrifying plane crash in 2000, where he sustained injuries and narrowly escaped a fatal outcome. The incident led to a thorough investigation into the crash, attributing it to mechanical failures during take-off.

Dettori’s fans and well-wishers are urged to respect his privacy during his recovery. Further updates on his condition will be provided when available.
