A 16-year-old teenager is in critical condition after plunging off a moving train while attempting a dangerous “train-surfing” stunt in Sydney, Australia. The incident occurred between St Peters and Sydenham stations in Sydney’s inner west on Saturday, June 13.
The boy, who was riding on the exterior of a moving train, fell from the side of a carriage onto the tracks. New South Wales Ambulance personnel treated him at the scene for severe head and arm injuries before transferring him to Royal Price Alfred Hospital. Currently, he remains in critical but stable condition as reported by news.com.au.
According to NSW Police, the teenager’s fall from the train compartment led to a significant disruption of rail services. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident. The Daily Telegraph mentioned that the event took place on a Tangara model train, part of a government initiative to equip all double-decker T-set trains with anti-surfing mechanisms by 2026, following the rise of the controversial “train-surfing” trend.
