“Gordon Brown to be Interviewed in Mandelson-Epstein Probe”

Must read

Police investigating Peter Mandelson are reportedly planning to interview Gordon Brown regarding Mandelson’s activities during his tenure as the business secretary. Mandelson is suspected of sharing confidential information with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, during the financial crisis of 2008. The probe was initiated after leaked documents suggested that Mandelson disclosed details about an EU bailout and the UK economy to Epstein.

Despite denying any wrongdoing, Mandelson’s communication with Epstein, as revealed in redacted documents from the Epstein Files, has raised concerns. The Metropolitan Police are eager to speak with Brown, who is willing to cooperate with the investigation, although no formal interview arrangements have been made yet.

Mandelson, who was dismissed as the UK’s ambassador to Washington last year due to revelations of his ties with Epstein, allegedly provided Epstein with information on government actions during the financial crisis, including advance notice of a 500 billion euro EU bailout and details of a proposed tax on bankers’ bonuses. Keir Starmer has accused Mandelson of deception before his appointment, highlighting lapses in security clearance procedures.

The decision on potential charges against Mandelson rests with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), with the Met Police declining to comment on the ongoing investigation. The release of numerous documents related to Mandelson’s ambassadorship appointment, including critical WhatsApp messages with government officials, has shed further light on the situation.
