Health updates have been provided on three horses that suffered falls at the Grand National event. Following the incidents at Aintree near Liverpool, Mr Vango, Top Of The Bill, and Quai De Bourbon underwent assessments for their injuries.
Mr Vango, who fell at the sixth fence, is currently under the care of trainer Sara Bradstock. Despite sustaining an avulsion fracture in the neck, Bradstock remains optimistic about the horse’s recovery. Mr Vango was transferred to Leahurst Equine Hospital for further treatment and monitoring.
According to Bradstock, Mr Vango is responding well to treatment, and she is hopeful for a full recovery. The horse will undergo a CT scan before being discharged, with the possibility of returning home by midweek if no complications are found.
Regarding Top Of The Bill, another horse involved in a fall at the final fence, jockey Toby McCain-Mitchell received a 10-day suspension for not pulling up the horse promptly. However, Top Of The Bill has been reported to be in good condition and back home, showing signs of sound health.
Quai De Bourbon, trained by Willie Mullins, was also assessed after falling at the second fence. The horse was scheduled to travel back overnight after the race.
In summary, the injured horses are under close supervision and receiving appropriate care, with hopes for their recovery and possible return to racing in the future.
