Tyrrell Hatton Shows Frustration at The Masters

Must read

Tyrrell Hatton, a prominent LIV Golf player, expressed his frustration with the course after encountering an early setback during his final round at The Masters on Sunday. Hatton, who started the day at 4-under following a level par on Saturday and an impressive 66 on Friday, began positively with a birdie on the par-5 second hole but then dropped a shot at the 251-yard par-3 fourth hole, which proved to be a costly mistake.

His tee shot went slightly long, landing just off the green. What should have been a straightforward two-putt for someone of his skill turned sour when his first attempt left the ball roughly three feet away, and his subsequent putt hit the lip, leading to visible frustration from the 34-year-old known for occasional outbursts. Hatton’s emotions boiled over as he muttered in anger before finally sinking the ball on his fourth try.

Interestingly, spectators had to endure another outburst shortly after when Wyndham Clark, in a similar situation, also failed to sink a par putt, resulting in a bogey, prompting him to swear out loud. Hatton’s luck improved later in the round with an eagle on the seventh hole and a birdie on the eighth, potentially boosting his morale. The challenging conditions, particularly the firm greens under the hot Augusta sun, seemed to have caused struggles for many players, including Hatton and his LIV Golf teammate Jon Rahm.

Despite finishing with a 4-under round, Rahm faced difficulties with three bogeys on a firmer Augusta National course, which he claimed to be unprecedented in his experience. Looking ahead, Rahm expressed intentions to make adjustments based on the unique challenges posed by the course conditions. Hatton, on the other hand, completed his round at -10, taking the clubhouse lead as other contenders like Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose continued their play.
