The renewed assaults coincided with diplomatic efforts in Geneva to broker a peace agreement between the US, Russia, and Ukraine. Despite the talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown no willingness to end the conflict. Additionally, a top NATO official has raised concerns about Moscow’s involvement in trafficking drugs and migrants from Africa to destabilize Western nations.
In a tragic development, Russia conducted significant airstrikes on Ukraine, resulting in the death of a mother in Kharkiv. Natalya, a mother of two, was killed in a drone strike that also claimed the lives of three others and injured 17 individuals. Her son, Oleksandr Balaklytskyi, recounted the harrowing moments leading to his mother’s death in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
Witnesses described the chaos caused by the attacks, including 77-year-old Volodymyr Kravtsov, who narrowly escaped injury. The strikes caused widespread destruction and panic among residents, with some buildings catching fire and collapsing.
Following the attacks on Izmail, a crucial Ukrainian port on the River Danube near Romania, NATO fighters were mobilized to monitor the situation. German Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft and Romanian F-16 fighters were dispatched to respond to incoming drones near Snake Island in the Black Sea, with reports of explosions on the Ukrainian side.
Romanian authorities accused Russia of targeting civilian areas and port facilities in Ukraine with drone strikes.
