“Walnut Creek Murder Case Unfolds: Man Accused, Mistress Linked”

Must read

A man suspected of infidelity is facing allegations of cutting the throats of his wife and mother-in-law, with his mistress reportedly aiding in the disposal of evidence. Howard Wang, 43, has been formally charged with the murder of his wife, Linlin Guo, and her mother, Beimin Cheng, at their residence in Walnut Creek, California. The couple’s twin eight-year-old daughters were present in the home during the tragic incident.

Following the violent act, Howard Wang is accused of firing gunshots and falsely claiming self-defense against an intruder. His alleged mistress, Yan Wang (no relation), aged 45, has been charged with being an accessory to the crime, burglary, and tampering with evidence. It is claimed that she attempted to obstruct the investigation by stealing and destroying two mobile phones from the crime scene. During a court appearance after Howard Wang’s arrest, Yan Wang engaged in a physical altercation with a member of the victims’ family, resulting in intervention by sheriff’s deputies.

Yan Wang was arrested by Walnut Creek Police the next day and was later booked into jail on September 29. Authorities believe she was romantically involved with Howard. If convicted, Howard Wang could face life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

Court records reveal that Howard Wang had initiated divorce proceedings in January 2024, only to withdraw the case in August of the same year. Allegedly, he had threatened his wife around the time of dismissing the divorce application.

District Attorney Diana Becton emphasized the gravity of domestic violence in the wake of announcing Yan Wang’s involvement in the murder case, stating, “This case underscores the profound impact of domestic violence. Our office is committed to pursuing justice with utmost seriousness and urgency.”

A previous statement from the Walnut Creek Police Department detailed the initial response to the incident, reporting the discovery of the two deceased women inside the house and the subsequent arrest of Howard Wang, who was acquainted with the victims. Yan Wang, identified as Howard’s girlfriend, was apprehended for aiding after the fact and is currently being held without bail at the Martinez Detention Facility following her arrest in Oakland.
